Maren's first Swim Meet- GO MARE!

Weekend Haps . . .

Scott and I went to Las Vegas for the weekend, and the kids went with the grandparents to the beach - they had a rotten time, as you can see . . .
Yummm! Smores
Sten had a touch of something - felt a little puny the first of the weekend.

Trying to get Grandpa to eat a smore - unsuccesfully I might add

Classic Maren

The girls had a swim meet in Corvallis on Thursday afternoon. It was Maren's first meet and she did breast, free, and back - occasionally taking a break to hang on the lane lines to catch her breath. Milah did butter, breast, and free - finishing first in the freestyle and breaststroke.

Crazy Hair Day - Oh yeah!

Maren informed me that it was crazy hair day at her school - a chance for me to sharpen my salon skills. Yes, I did spray her hair purple - the stuff is nasty smelling. She chose the strange ensemble she's wearing. It is a little cold this morning, but looks like the clouds will burn off and it will be nice. I tried to explain this to her, but she insisted on wearing the pack boots and the turtleneck dress. This is the same girl that looked outside on a snowy day and changed into a bikini - go figure?!

Pounding the Pavement . . .

Sten has enjoyed being on the track team and made it to Districts in the 800 event. After attending a meet, we quickly discovered what the attraction was - not the events, but all the social time. Sten would gladly participate in any sport (even ballet) to stay out of the pool.

While at the track meet, there was an irresistable pair of puppies near us. Ever the friendly one, Maren made friends immediately and spent most of the meet cozied up with the puppies.

Star Student!

Milah was student of the month for April. She is an amazingly organized and dedicated student. She brings extra math home and has her assignments completed several days in advance of the due date, always in perfect handwriting. None of us can live up to her high standards - and her brother (ahem) could take a few lessons!

Can you believe it?

I'm not sure what we were doing at the High School orientation last night?! Could it be that our son will soon be entering that institution? But we were just kissing his dimpled cheeks and putting him on the bus on his first day of first grade?

We are peddling loads of junk that we don't need next weekend, so I was making the signs for the sale. I grabbed some old red paper and some paints, put on my creative hat and came up with several of these signs - they look a bit kindergarten, finger-paint-ish, but I am definitely NOT an artist. Hopefully they do their job and our stuff is all sold by noon!

Progress!

The 2 patients - Grandma Patty had her middle toe amputated this week and Maren (well, you know the story). Grandma Patty is doing well - she is certainly glad to have the surgery behind her.

Before - Main Room

After

After - still a little pile behind the couch (don't look)

Before floor in Maren's desk area, hand painted

by the resident rookie faux painter, Ms Lisa -el cheap-o

After floor - by the professional installation team of Chuck and Scott. A much more refined look.
