What Hamster?

Do you spy a hamster? Yeah, we can't seem to locate her either. Precious litte "Sassy" was delivered to us for safe keeping until her owner's return in April. Sassy is a marathon runner and saves her intense training for the early morning hours. But, it seems that Sassy has turned up missing, and she could be miles from home by now. We are highly suspect that some tiny hands loosened a side door and Sassy just strolled out in the middle of the night. I think this means we've bombed petsitting 101.

UPDATE! Sassy was discovered in the basement last night looking a little gaunt and startled. We're not sure how Sassy made it down there but it's possible that it was a wild ride and she probably suffered a headache at the very least. She nestled down in her pine bedding where she will probably sleep for days.

Other pet related news: Danner seems to have tangled with one of those black creatures that have a white stripe running down their backs. Pew Wee - he stinks!!

Oh dear! We love hamsters! My kids have two ideas that might work to get it back. 1) Put a bucket out with bedding and food in it with a ramp or a book staircase so the hamster can climb up. It would hopefully jump in and not be able to get out. 2) Set the cage on the floor and leave the door open overnight with some tempting treats inside. You might want to put one of these on each floor of your house. Try treats like carrots, tomatoes, and apples. We hope this works! Be sure you have no mousetraps or other poisons out! Keep us posted!

Thanks for the tips. I thought of doing that but . . . for some reason that night our back door was left open and I'm afraid that the hamster might have been a tasty treat for a certain yellow lab. Eeew, don't tell your kids.

I am NOT staying at your house if a hamster is loose!!!!!! I do not want to have one of them run up my legs while I'm praying, sleeping, sitting, living...... YIKES!!!! ;-)

Where is he living..in the house... as he is up all hours of the night??

We'll make sure and put her in "your" bedroom next time you're here, Twila. Although you might luck out and our petsitting experience will be over by the time you come again.
